Hain is a traditional initiation rite of the Selk'Nam (also known as Ona), a native people living in the very south of Argentina. This sacred ceremony marked the initiation of children into adult life. The young candidates (kloketen) were sent alone to the woods to improve their survival skills. There they would come across the shoorts, men disguised as mythical spirits who, combining body painting, grave movements and utter silence, aimed to generate fascination and panic.
Drawing conceptually on this ritual, Minexio III will perform an improvisation piece using various conventional and non-conventional electric and acoustic instruments.
